3 easy ways to invite your audience to relate to you as a trustworthy guide

When you market your business online, it is crucial people can find you. Think of it as building a tribe of people who see the value of what you offer.

If you don’t have a huge following, you can always start just building incrementally.

The easiest way to get started is just adding to your practice already.

You should bother to build a tribe and share valuable content to show people that you are the like them and that you have something helpful to offer because people want to follow people that they know, like, and trust.

In this article, I give you 3 easy ways to build your tribe and invite people to relate to you. And the approach works. It helped me build my following on LinkedIn from around 900 when I started applying these 3 tips to over 7000 within a year. If it works for me, it can work for you too!

How do your people get to know and relate to you?

One thing is that we relate to people through referrals. That’s a great way to get to know people, have those conversations and build trust. But you can only talk to so many people one-on-one because it takes time. That is why we want to look into how to build a following on social media. A place to start is to post valuable content on social media consistently. I know it can seem like a daunting task! But there actually is a way to make it manageable for yourself.

Tip #1: How to make consistent posting easier for yourself

The main point is to think about repurposing your content. For example, if you start creating a course, you will begin defining your unique customer. This process will give you some valuable information about the type of value your people are looking for you to deliver.

Knowing your people will give you great content ideas right from the get-go. I remember when I first heard about posting content weekly or even daily. I thought it was a monumental task. But as I learned to repurpose my content, it made my life much easier.

Here are some ideas you can use to make your life as a weekly or daily content creator easier:

  • write an article
  • repurpose the article into 5-7 blog posts
  • make 10-15 small memes with key phrases

And the great news is that you can do the same with video content. If you create a video for a course, you can take small snippets and publish them on YouTube.

The bottom line is to use your content intelligently. Make content creation easy and not too overwhelming.

Tip #2: Having conversations to build your tribe

Another effective way to build your tribe is connecting with people on social media, having networking conversations, and making your email list.

The building of that email list is just super important for any kind of marketing of your online business that you are going to do without spending a fortune on paid advertising.

In my course https://courses.sophiehhiggins.com/courses/Create-Meaningful-Online-Courses-And-Grow-Passive-Income, I have a swipe file for you with a copy that you can put straight into a launch email campaign.

So, if you don’t already have an email list, I encourage you just to start building one. An easy way to do it is to put the first name, last name, and email address in an Excel spreadsheet. You might already have that, but if you don’t, I encourage you to start building it immediately.

Another thing you can do to build your tribe is comment on people’s posts. Again, you don’t want to spend too much time on it. But if you make it a goal to post three comments a day. That’s manageable. And honestly, it’s all about making your social media life manageable!

Tip #3: Start using SEO keywords in posts and on your website

In my course https://courses.sophiehhiggins.com/courses/Create-Meaningful-Online-Courses-And-Grow-Passive-Income, I cover some easy ways to test your headlines for SEO keywords. I know when I first heard about SEO, I balked. I thought it was too complicated to do. But doing research, I found some easy-to-use tools to find words that people are searching for in large numbers. The thing is that using SEO keywords is a great way to grow organic traffic.

Of course, you can do many other things, and I would love to hear your tips and tricks on how you build your tribe and invite people to relate to you.

Summing up, it’s all about getting people to know, like, and trust you. Because when they know, like, and trust you, they will want to follow you and embark on your online business offer once you launch it.

Please take a moment to consider how you invite your audience to relate to you as a trustworthy guide. What are your thoughts? What works well? And are there some things people can learn from your mistakes?
